The White Lotus in France: what’s in store for season 4 of the phenomenon series?
The next season of The White Lotus could be set in France. Alps, Paris or Côte d’Azur: speculation is rife.
After Hawaii, Italy and, more recently, Thailand, the now cult HBO series The White Lotus is set to continue its high-end journey… in France. No official release date or cast has yet been confirmed, but rumors about the filming location are becoming more precise.
The Deadline website is already referring to the legendary Grand-Hôtel du Cap Ferrat, a jewel overlooking the Mediterranean. This legendary palace, prized by celebrities, has already served as the setting for the French series Grand Hôtel on TF1. Its spectacular setting and immaculate façade would make it the perfect setting for the sultry intrigues of White Lotus.
A story set in a resort or in the heart of Paris?
Other leads are circulating. The series could surprise viewers by moving away from the coast to the French Alps, in particular Megève, home to one of the three French establishments of the Four Seasons group, a long-standing partner of the series. A surprising hypothesis, given that Mike White, the show’s creator, has himself admitted to “hating the cold”.
Another more urban option, but just as luxurious: the George V in Paris, an iconic palace a stone’s throw from the Champs-Élysées. Filming in Paris would give the series a completely different ambience, more cultural than seaside, but just as intriguing.
Paris at the heart of the HBO imagination?
If Paris were chosen, it would reinforce its already solid place in the imagination of international productions. Series such as Emily in Paris have recently helped renew the capital’s image with viewers the world over. There are even whispers on Twitter that Camille Cottin would make an excellent hotel manager, in the ironic, acerbic vein characteristic of the series.
While we wait for confirmation, fans are speculating, imagining dream castings, and already packing their bags for the next fictional destination of HBO’s neurotic vacationers.
