CNN International unveils Seasons, a fashion and lifestyle series with a global flavour

CNN International launches Seasons, a quarterly series devoted to global trends in fashion, design, gastronomy and art. This ambitious initiative is particularly relevant in Paris, the capital of elegance and creativity.

Since September, CNN International has been offering a new format: Seasons, a documentary series that explores contemporary cultural influences through a cross-section of fashion, craftsmanship, design, gastronomy and technology. The first episode, available on the channel’s video platform, focuses on Japan, a country where tradition meets the avant-garde.

Japan in the spotlight in the first episode

Presented by Japanese model and media personality Hikari Mori, this inaugural episode unveils the singular universe of Takashi Murakami, a major figure in contemporary art, captured in the midst of preparing an exhibition in Seoul. Viewers also discover the masters of Japanese textiles, whose ancestral know-how continues to inspire the greatest fashion houses.

Immersive sequences, such as a tea ceremony or a visit to confidential restaurants, offer a sensitive look at a country where aesthetics remain a pillar of culture. As Hikari Mori points out: “In a world that is accelerating, we can learn from these craftsmen who create in harmony with nature.”

A format designed for a global audience

Seasons is not limited to television. CNN is also offering videos, interactive photos and exclusive online content, in a bid to adapt the experience to new digital uses. For Ellena Lee, Vice President of CNN, it’s all about responding to a generation in search of scarcity, meaning and authenticity.

Each episode is designed as a snapshot of a culture. The second installment, scheduled for December, will focus on Europe, with an emphasis on the UK.

A natural echo in Paris

In Paris, this type of program is a natural fit. The capital of fashion weeks, the city is a crossroads of creative influences. The themes addressed in Seasons – craftsmanship, understated luxury, cutting-edge gastronomy – resonate with the Parisian aesthetic.
