Exposition Kandinsky à la Philharmonie de Paris en 2025

From October 2025, the Philharmonie de Paris will host a major exhibition devoted to Kandinsky. Nearly 200 works will be brought together to illustrate the dialogue between painting and music. A rare sensory experience to be savored now.

Kandinsky, the music of colors

The ” Kandinsky, la musique des couleurs” exhibition will run from October 15, 2025 to February 1, 2026 at the Philharmonie de Paris. Co-organized with the Centre Pompidou, it will feature some 200 works and objects from the studio of the master of abstraction. Paintings, drawings, scores and interactive installations will demonstrate his intimate relationship with sound.

This event explores synesthesia, a key experience in the painter’s art. Every color, every form is thought of as a vibration. Visitors will be immersed in a visual and sound setting designed to bring this artistic research to life.

In the heart of Paris, this exhibition is a highlight of the 2025 cultural season. On site, visitors can also enjoy other activities and spaces such as the restaurant and the Musée de la Musique.

Immersive scenography

The scenography offers a sensory journey where painting and music meet. Sound devices recreate certain musical pieces associated with Kandinsky’s paintings. Viewers are invited to experience painting as an auditory composition.

The Philharmonie highlights key moments such as Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition”, evoked through interactive installations. These devices enable a dialogue between visual works and musical interpretations.

This approach is in line with the current trend towards immersive exhibitions. These multi-sensory experiences appeal to an ever-growing audience, and help to promote the work of visionary artists.

Exhibition highlights

The event is divided into four sections tracing Kandinsky‘s life and artistic research. These include his aesthetic shock at the discovery of Wagner and his evolution towards abstraction.

The role of contemporary composers such as Schönberg and Stravinsky is also documented. Archives and rare scores will illustrate the unique link between music and painting. These elements highlight a modernity that remains relevant today.

The central audiovisual installation is dedicated to synesthesia, a key concept in his work. Using immersive technologies, viewers will experience a dialogue between sound and color.
