Natural hair: A plant-based routine that really makes a difference
What if your hair regained its movement, shine and silky touch thanks to a gentler, more respectful, almost “slow beauty” routine? There’s nothing complicated about taking care of your hair naturally, as long as you know where to start.
The secret to natural hair is not an overloaded bathroom, but a handful of regular rituals. We learn to listen to the scalp, to respect the fiber, to play with plants rather than silicones. Hair quickly becomes denser, silkier and easier to style.
A soothed scalp, transformed lengths
Taking care of your hair naturally means taking care of the “skin” that wears it. Even before washing, massage the scalp with a soft silicone brush. The circular movements stimulate microcirculation, gently lift impurities and prepare the roots for shampooing. You can add a few drops ofjojoba or black cumin vegetable oil, which are very similar to natural sebum.
Then it’s time to wash: no harsh sulfates, no occlusive silicones. We turn to gentle formulas, often in the form of solid shampoos – as at Unbottled – more concentrated, more respectful of the scalp and the environment. Lather in your hands, apply only to the scalp, then let the foam glide over the lengths.

In Paris and the Ile-de-France region, hard water can dull fiber and make it rougher. A filtering shower head reduces the effects of chlorine and impurities. And remember to rinse thoroughly withlukewarm water, never scalding hot, to keep the scalp comfortable.
After rinsing, use a gentle detangler from CoslysGentle Detangler, applied to lengths and ends. It facilitates combing without breakage, leaving hair supple and ready for the rest of the routine.

The final rinse is of paramount importance for naturally luminous hair. You use a vinegar rinse water like the one from Activilong. Vinegar tightens the scales, makes the fiber shine and helps eliminate limescale residues, especially in the city. On slightly damp hair, apply a few drops of serum to the ends to seal in moisture and protect length.

Regular care that changes the material
With natural hair, regularity is more important than overdoing it. Every three months, you give your lengths a real in-depth treatment: a mask of neutral henna mixed with Amla powder or other Indian powders such as Neem or Shikakai. This vegetable paste coats and coats the hair, giving it strength and shine without altering its color. It’s ideal for restoring body to weakened lengths, stimulating growth and purifying the scalp.

Twice a month, it’s time for an overnight oil bath. Apply a generous amount of vegetable oil from the lengths to the ends, avoiding the roots if they tend to re-grease. Choose fine oils such as avocado, nigella or jojoba. Massage, braid, protect the pillow… and let time do its work. When you wake up in the morning, the fiber is nourished, the tips less dry and the touch more velvety.

Gentle heat and controlled drying
The real luxury remains gentle, natural drying. We replace energetic towel friction with simple dabbing with a bamboo towel. The gesture reduces breakage and frizz.
When it comes to heat, it’s best to save the straightener for selected occasions. On a day-to-day basis, air-drying or a quick blow-dry at medium temperature is more consistent with a natural routine. Before any source of heat, we systematically protect with a light thermo-protective spray. It’s not just another product, but an insurance policy to preserve shine and avoid burnt ends that force you to recut your hair too often.

At night, gently prolong the treatment
The way we sleep has a huge impact on the condition of the fiber. On a classic cotton pillowcase, hair rubs, tangles and snags. A silk or satin pillowcase reduces friction and keeps lengths shinier in the morning.

Before bedtime, gentle brushing for one or two minutes with a soft brush distributes the natural sebum. Roots are less shiny, and ends benefit from this precious protective film. We then tie the hair into a soft braid, or a soft chignon for curly textures: lengths remain protected, and waves are effortlessly defined.
