T-home Kei in Tokyo: this hotel inspired by Edo’s nagaya reinvents the art of staying near the Skytree
A new hotel has just opened in Tokyo. It offers an immersion in traditional Japanese culture. T-home Kei opens its doors in early 2026 in the Sumida district.
A unique concept inspired by Edo houses
This establishment is distinguished by its singular architecture. The building takes its design cues from nagaya, the typical row houses of theEdo period. The two-storey wooden structure evokes the Japan of yesteryear.
The project was born out of a desire to make the most of a former hospital site. Tobu Real Estate wanted to create a bridge between local residents and visitors. This desire to connect guides the entire concept.
The rooms have a wa-modern style, blending tradition with contemporary design. Each room incorporates classic Japanese elements. But modern comforts are always at hand.
“Connecting residents and visitors is at the heart of our approach.
Unprecedented capacity for the T-home series
T-home Kei is part of an already well-established range of accommodation. Six buildings already exist around Tokyo Skytree Town. They offer a total of thirteen rooms, all equipped for family stays.
This new establishment is significantly scaled up. It features 29 rooms with a capacity of around 200 guests. This makes it the largest in the series.
- Fully equipped kitchen in each bedroom
- Washing machine available
- Fridge and microwave included
- Crockery and cutlery provided for long stays
- Close to Tokyo Skytree
Ideal location near Tokyo Skytree
The hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from the famous tower. The Sumida district offers an authentic atmosphere, far from the crowded tourist areas. Visitors can enjoy a local experience.
Tobu Real Estate chose this location for its cultural richness. The area retains a much-loved traditional character. Many craftsmen perpetuate ancient skills.
Public transport is still easily accessible from T-home Kei. This location makes it easy to explore Tokyo. The return trip to the hotel offers a real change of scenery.
Here, international travelers find a setting conducive to immersion. Far from standardized hotels, this accommodation tells a story. Every detail is a reminder of Japanese culture.
Cultural experiences at the heart of the project
The establishment is not limited to accommodation. Original restaurants will be opening on the premises in the near future. They will offer cuisine based on local traditions.
The outdoor area will host seasonal events throughout the year. Visitors can discover the four Japanese seasons. These events strengthen the link with the neighborhood.
T-home Kei emphasizes exchanges with the local community. The hotel aims to help revitalize the Sumida district. This approach sets the hotel apart from conventional chains.
An accommodation model designed for families and groups
The T-home concept meets a specific market need. Families and groups often struggle to find suitable accommodation. Spacious, fully-equipped rooms solve this problem.
Each unit functions as a small self-contained apartment. Travelers can prepare their own meals if they wish. This flexibility is particularly attractive for longer stays.
The success of the first six establishments has validated this model. T-home Kei represents a further step in this expansion. The Tobu Group is thus confirming its alternative accommodation strategy.
Visitors to 2026 now have a unique option in Tokyo. With its blend of modernity and tradition, this hotel offers a singular experience. The Sumida district gains a tourism player committed to local life.
