Gianni Versace at the Musée Maillol: 450 pieces to be discovered from June 2026 in Paris
Paris is set to host a major fashion event this summer. The Gianni Versace Retrospective opens at the Musée Maillol on June 5, 2026. After London, Berlin and Malaga, this traveling exhibition finally offers French enthusiasts the chance to rediscover the work of the Italian designer.
A major retrospective in the heart of Paris
The Musée Maillol, located at 59-61 rue de Grenelle in the 7th arrondissement, will host this exhibition until September 6, 2026. Visitors will be able to take advantage of the entire summer season to explore this journey through fashion history. This is the largest exhibition devoted to the couturier in France since the late 1980s.
Nearly 450 pieces will be presented to the general public at this event produced by the Dreamrealizer company. What’s more, the scenography has been entrusted to Nathalie Crinière, known for having signed the “Dior, couturier du rêve” tour presented in 2017 at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Her approach promises a staging worthy of the Versace legacy.
The exhibition is not limited to iconic silhouettes. Visitors can also admire sketches, decorative objects, videos and photographs by Helmut Newton, Patrick Demarchelier and Mario Testino.
“This fashion exhibition traces the development of Gianni Versace, from his first steps in the family workshop in southern Italy to the founding of his eponymous fashion house, renowned for its flamboyant style.
From Italian origins to flamboyant style
The tour traces the designer’s beginnings in his family’s workshop in southern Italy. Visitors will gain a better understanding of how Gianni Versace forged his distinctive aesthetic. This immersion allows visitors to grasp the artisanal roots that nourished his work.
Accessories also feature prominently in this retrospective. Each piece bears witness to the savoir-faire and audacity that have defined the Maison. In short, this journey through time offers a complete vision of the Italian couturier’s creativity.

Couture and pop culture: the Versace imprint on the 90s
Ready-to-wear takes center stage in this retrospective. However, the exhibition also revisits the Atelier Versace Haute-Couture line launched in 1989. This line, now supported by the Prada group, is due to return to the catwalk in the near future.
Thirty years after Gianni Versace’s tragic death in Miami, this event highlights his imprint on pop culture in the early 90s. His famous friendships with Madonna, Elton John, George Michael and Princess Diana will be recalled. These ties testify to the designer’s influence far beyond the catwalk.
The supermodels of the era also feature prominently. Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer are among the couturier’s iconic collaborators. Their silhouettes helped forge the glamorous and powerful image of the Maison.
It should be noted, however, that this event is not officially associated with either Gianni Versace S.r.l. or the Versace family. Production remains entirely in the hands of Dreamrealizer.
A fast-changing fashion context for La Maison
This retrospective comes at a very special time for the brand. Since December 2025, Versace has belonged to the Prada group. This acquisition marked a major repositioning for the Italian luxury brand.
The House also announced the end of Versace Jeans Couture to concentrate on the Atelier. Pieter Mulier has been appointed Artistic Director in February 2026. These changes mark a new era for the label with the Medusa logo.
