3 typically Parisian restaurants, 3 different experiences to try
The editorial team recently visited three new restaurants with very different worlds. With no apparent link between them, other than the fact that they have convinced us in their own way, they each illustrate a singular vision of cuisine and the restaurantexperience. Whether it’s a cuisine d’auteur, a more confidential address or a restaurant that’s already well established in its neighborhood, we took the time to try them out, explore their specificities and, above all, enjoy a real moment of pleasure. Here are our impressions.
Frivole: the festive, no-holds-barred Parisian summer

Located in the very chic 8ᵉ arrondissement, Frivole has established itself as one of the season’s most vibrant spots. More than just a restaurant, it’s a true summer destination where people come as much to dine as to experience.
In fine weather, the terrace becomes the beating heart of the place. The atmosphere is sunny, almost Mediterranean, punctuated by a program designed to accompany every moment of the day. In the late afternoon, the “Golden Hour Game” creates an elegant and accessible afterwork atmosphere, perfect for starting the evening with well-executed cocktails. At weekends, it’s all about conviviality, with pétanque tournaments and a Sunday brunch that’s become a must.
In terms of cuisine, Frivole takes a contemporary approach to French gastronomy. The seasonal menu favors plates that can be shared or savored individually, always with the right touch. The cocktails, meanwhile, creatively extend the experience, adapting to the different times of the meal.
But what really makes the difference is the energy of the place. DJ sets, live performances, surprises… Frivole lives, evolves and transforms each evening into a singular moment. An ideal address for those looking for a festive restaurant without compromising on quality.

Restaurant de l’Hôtel Dame des Arts: Paris as a backdrop

In the heart of the Latin Quarter, Restaurant Dame des Arts offers a unique experience, combining contemporary elegance with spectacular views over Paris. Nestled atop the Hôtel Dame des Arts, the restaurant’s atmosphere is immediately captivating.
Here, it all starts with the decor. A rooftop terrace with a breathtaking view over the Parisian rooftops, where Notre-Dame and the Eiffel Tower seem almost within sight. The setting is ideal for an urban escape, whether for a sunny lunch or a sunset dinner.
On the plate, the cuisine is modern and refined, with revisited French influences. Products are carefully selected, combinations mastered, and each dish tells a story, between tradition and creativity.
The service, attentive without being ostentatious, accompanies this experience with fluidity. We come here to gain height, literally and figuratively. A perfect place for a rendezvous, a suspended moment or simply to rediscover Paris in a different way.

Maison Mayane: the French bistro in its most efficient version

At Porte Maillot, Maison Mayane is restoring the French bistro to its rightful place at its most essential: quality products, an easy-to-understand formula and generosity.
Following in the footsteps of Atelier Entrecôte & Volaille, this new address takes up a recipe that works: simplicity, consistency and immediate pleasure. There’s no endless menu here. The concept is clear and perfectly mastered.
The experience begins with a crisp green salad, before giving way to the heart of the meal: a choice between French beef entrecôte, Label Rouge free-range poultry or smash burger. Just three options, but executed with precision. All served with the famous, jealously guarded signature sauce and all-you-can-eat home fries.
What makes it special? Two-step service. A first plate, then a second portion served hot, allowing you to prolong the pleasure without excess or waste. It’s a simple idea, but a highly effective one.
As for desserts, the great classics are there: crème brûlée, profiteroles, pavlova and crêpes Suzette. An assertive indulgence, without unnecessary sophistication.
And all at particularly affordable prices: €29 for the full evening menu, and €19.90 for lunch. A rare proposition in Paris today.
