This Paris rooftop shows cult films all summer long

A screen, a starry sky, a cocktail… and Paris as the backdrop. Every Sunday evening, the Hôtel Paradiso transforms its rooftop into an open-air cinema. It’s a summer rendezvous with a cult following among Parisian film buffs.

A confidential rooftop cinema in the heart of the 12th arrondissement

Located on boulevard Diderot, a stone’s throw from Nation, the rooftop of Hôtel Paradiso (mk2) is more than just a roof terrace. It’s an open-air cinema that comes alive at dusk, every Sunday at 9:30pm, with a curation of films by mk2.

The program? Eclectic, demanding and often poetic. Auteur films, revisited classics, little-known gems… All in a gentle, intimate atmosphere. Admission is free, but reservations are required for Sunday screenings.

The complete program, between sun and nostalgia

  • June: the retro charm of Charade (Stanley Donen), the melancholy purity of Les Amours imaginaires (Xavier Dolan) and Holiday (Guillaume Nicloux).
  • July: wanderlust with Sur la route (Walter Salles), fantasy with La Fée (Abel, Romy, Gordon), and vintage tenderness with Le Clair de Terre (Guy Gilles).
  • August: between Kusturica’s Black Cat, White Cat, Dolan’s Laurence Anyways and Chaplin’s Modern Times, the emotions promise to be manifold.
  • September: summer comes to a close with L’Heure d’été by Assayas and Un été inoubliable by Pintille.

An aperitif-cinema under the stars at the Hotel Paradiso

Before the film, sip a cocktail overlooking the rooftops of Paris. The rooftop bar is open every day (4pm-11.30pm weekdays, until midnight on weekends), but Sunday evenings are often fully booked – so book ahead.

Cinema, pink skies and just the right amount of cocktails: Hotel Paradiso has found the perfect recipe for a long summer.
