Chanel chooses New York for its next Métiers d’Art show

On December 2, 2025, Chanel will present its Métiers d’Art show in New York. A tribute to the house’s craftsmanship and a powerful strategic move for the Parisian brand.

Every year, Chanel’s Métiers d’Art show is one of fashion’s most eagerly awaited events. Off the official calendar, it celebrates the partner ateliers that perpetuate the House’s precious savoir-faire. In 2025, New York has been chosen to host this emblematic event.

This choice marks Matthieu Blazy ‘s debut at the helm of Chanel for this very special artistic line. The Belgian designer, appointed in June, is no stranger to the U.S., having worked in New York for many years, notably with Raf Simons. An almost intimate return, but also perfectly consistent with Chanel’s history. Gabrielle Chanel forged strong ties with America as early as the 1930s, collaborating with department stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman. More recently, Karl Lagerfeld had already organized several fashion shows there, including the highly acclaimed 2018 show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

A global showcase for French craftsmanship

This show is above all a tribute to the art houses that Chanel has supported for decades: Lesage (embroidery), Lemarié (featherwork), Goossens (goldsmiths) and Massaro (luxury shoes). These workshops, often based in Paris or the surrounding regions, perpetuate endangered know-how, which Chanel promotes at the highest creative level. The choice of New York as the setting for this demonstration of artisanal excellence is a way of reinforcing the cultural and commercial impact of this approach.

Chanel between strategy and international influence

Beyond the artistic gesture, this move to New York is part of a strategy of conquest: the United States remains a central market for luxury goods, despite recent economic upheavals. With this show, Chanel asserts its presence and power on the international stage.
