This Harlan Coben thriller in 8 episodes is now free on TF1+
Free, available right now and signed by one of the world’s most widely read thriller writers: the series Shelter, adapted from a novel by Harlan Coben, has just joined the TF1+ catalogue at no cost whatsoever. For fans of mystery and suspense, this is an opportunity not to be missed.
Shelter on TF1+: what going free actually means for you
Since its release in August 2023 on Prime Video, the series Shelter had been reserved for subscribers to Amazon’s platform. It is now available for free on TF1+, opening it up to a much wider audience. Across eight episodes, the show plunges viewers into a dense, gripping plot built on all the ingredients that have made the author’s reputation: unsettling characters, red herrings and plot twists that keep you hooked from start to finish.
For those not yet familiar with Coben’s work, this thriller is an excellent entry point. For fans already won over, it’s a chance to (re)watch the series under new conditions, without spending a penny.
Mickey Bolitar, the hero at the centre of a troubling disappearance
The story follows Mickey Bolitar, a teenager who has just lost his father and moves in with his aunt in New Jersey. From the moment he arrives at Kasselton High School, a fellow student suddenly vanishes. Mickey decides to investigate, joined by his two friends Spoon and Ema. As the episodes unfold, he uncovers the dark secrets of the town’s residents, and those of his own family.
This character will be familiar to readers of Harlan Coben: Mickey Bolitar is the nephew of Myron Bolitar, one of the American author’s most iconic figures. The series corresponds to the first instalment of the trilogy dedicated to this young hero, titled Shelter in the original English.
It is worth noting that the series will not receive a second season, making it a self-contained story told across eight episodes.
A young cast alongside a seasoned actress
The show’s ensemble is built around several young performers. Jaden Michael plays Mickey Bolitar in the lead role. Adrian Greensmith plays Arthur Spindell, while Abby Corrigan takes on the role of Ema Winslow. Alongside them, Constance Zimmer plays Shira Bolitar, Mickey’s aunt. Wider audiences will know her from her roles in Entourage, The Newsroom, unREAL and Good Trouble.

Harlan Coben, a prolific author with a strong presence on TF1+
With around thirty novels to his name, Harlan Coben has established himself as an essential reference in crime fiction worldwide. His works have attracted several major streaming platforms, including Netflix and Prime Video. Netflix, for instance, produced Gone for Good, with Nicolas Duvauchelle in the lead role.
On TF1+, Shelter is not the only adaptation available. Viewers can also watch Just One Look, with Pascal Elbé and Alexandra Lamy, as well as The Innocent, with Virginie Ledoyen and Thierry Neuvic. The American novelist is therefore well represented on the free platform of France’s leading channel, much to the delight of genre enthusiasts.
Three series drawn from this author’s imagination are thus gathered in one place, at no extra cost, making TF1+ a destination of choice for thriller fans in 2026.
