La Giraglia 2025: the world’s most elegant regatta?

Halfway between performance and elegance, the Giraglia imposes its silhouette on azure waves.
Under the impetus of Loro Piana, the famous regatta between Saint-Tropez, Corsica and Genoa redefines style at sea.

A race, a stage, a show

On June 11, 139 yachts set sail for a loop between the Var coast, the island of Giraglia in northern Corsica, and Genoa. The mistral may not have been there, but the aesthetics were. On the water: 30-meter monohulls, almost immaculate sails, sober hulls – a far cry from the garish sponsors of transatlantic races. Welcome to the Giraglia, the gentlemen’s regatta.

Here, every tack is choreographed to perfection. Elegance is not a stylistic effect, it’s a structuring principle. And the tone is set right from the onshore races, with the Loro Piana logo as a watermark, ideal weather conditions and stylish spectators.

Loro Piana: luxury at work

In 2024, Loro Piana has replaced Rolex as the regatta’s main partner. A symbolic transition that anchors the Giraglia in a new dimension: that of “quiet luxury”. Loro Piana sees it as a privileged field of expression for its textile and marine DNA. Dedicated outfits, a lounge in Saint-Tropez, international press: the event is becoming more muscular without losing its soul.

And even when Pier Luigi Loro Piana’s yacht runs into trouble (mainsail in the water, race compromised), the story remains noble. Resilience, Loro Piana’s core value, becomes a brand narrative. As Loro Piana CEO Damien Bertrand sums up: “La Giraglia is about excellence, team spirit and victory”.

The Mediterranean, new terrain for textile experiments

Beyond sport, the Giraglia becomes a laboratory for high-end marine clothing. The Mediterranean Sea – and its fickle winds – became the ultimate test for technical, durable and elegant materials.
