Sylvain Prudhomme receives the Michel Reybier Literary Prize
On June 4, 2025, La Réserve Paris hosted the 9ᵉ edition of the Prix Littéraire Michel Reybier. Now a not-to-be-missed event on the Parisian cultural scene, it was dedicated to humanism and transmission.
A prize that celebrates committed writing
Created in 2021 at the initiative of Karen Reybier, the Prix Littéraire Michel Reybier aims to highlight French-language voices that reinvent our relationship with the world. Supported by Sciences Po’s Writer-in-Residence Chair, the prize promotes a direct link between contemporary literature and younger generations.
This year, the prize was awarded to Sylvain Prudhomme for his novel Coyote, published in 2024, at an intimate ceremony held in the Bibliothèque Duc de Morny at La Réserve Paris, a venue as confidential as it is inspiring, conducive to literary reflection.
Coyote, a poetic ode to contemporary humanity
With Coyote, the author takes readers on a sensitive and powerful road-trip along the U.S.-Mexico border. Through encounters captured on the spot, he draws a nuanced portrait of humanity, where geopolitical tensions meet personal stories. It’s a book that questions, challenges and, above all, invites us to think differently. A work that resonates strongly with the values espoused by Michel Reybier: humanism, openness and commitment.
A critically acclaimed author
Born in 1979, Sylvain Prudhomme is one of the leading writers of his generation. He spent his childhood in Africa, an experience that has had a profound influence on his work. Winner of the Prix Femina in 2019 for Par les Routes, he received the Prix Nicolas Bouvier in 2025 for Coyote. His style, at the crossroads of documentary and fiction, is hailed for its accuracy and poetry.
