Gibert romance offers the first major Parisian bookshop dedicated to love stories
Romance now has its own temple in Paris. With the opening of Gibert Romance in the heart of the Quartier Latin, the long-established brand is bringing a breath of fresh air to bookstores. This new space, 100% dedicated to romance in all its forms, is already attracting thousands of passionate female readers, determined to live out their love of reading… and love stories.
A new hot spot for romance fans
A new must-visit address for romance fans has just opened in the Latin Quarter: Gibert Romancea space entirely dedicated to this fast-growing literary genre. Covering an area of 200 m² on four floors, this new Gibert bookshop offers almost 10,000 items, a mix of new and second-hand books, covering all current trends: contemporary romance, romance novels, dark romance, queer romance, romantic comedies and fantasy sagas.
Located at 28 boulevard Saint-Michel, in the heart of the 6th arrondissement, this specialized bookshop marks a real turning point for Gibert, a literary institution since 1886, which confirms its determination to reinvent itself with today’s readers. At a time when romance is establishing itself as a cultural phenomenon, particularly among young adults, this unique venue is already establishing itself as the new stronghold of the genre in Paris.
A successful launch
Inaugurated in autumn 2025, Gibert Romance has been a runaway success. Sales in the department have doubled, far exceeding forecasts. Derivative products created by the Gibert teams – bookmarks, notebooks, tote bags – are also a huge success.
But the real strength of this bookshop is its community. At every event (book signings with Ariel Héra, Liv Stone, Émilie Hicks, bookclub with Hazel Diaz), up to 150 female readers are present. On Instagram, the dedicated account has already reached 4,500 followers, and nearly 70 pieces of content (reels, TikToks, posts) have been shared by the most active literary creators.
With this new address, Gibert demonstrates that a bookshop can be a lively, evolving and connected place, capable of bringing people together around a shared passion. At a time when reading is also becoming a space for community and creation, Gibert Romance stands out as an inspiring model in Paris.
