Just 30 minutes from Paris, this swimming area with filtered pools reopens this Saturday, and admission is free starting at 4 p.m.
The heat wave is back in Paris, and the desire to find a cool spot by the water quickly becomes a priority. A swimming area just a few minutes from the capital is reopening this Saturday, and it has something to appeal to young and old alike.
A refreshing spot just outside Paris
The Île-de-France region is full of places to cool off, and this one really stands out. The Joinville-le-Pont swimming area is back for another season, running from June 20 through August 31. Just a few minutes away from Paris via the RER A, it’s located right on the edge of the Bois de Vincennes.
The site is steeped in history. This stretch along the banks of the Marne is the birthplace of the famous Parisian guinguettes, and it retains the down-to-earth, festive charm that defines its identity.
On site, two supervised pools await you. One is reserved for adults, and the other for children. In addition, a lounge chair area is available free of charge, subject to availability.
A new development that’s a game-changer for water quality
This season marks an important milestone for water quality. For the first time, the water in the pools will be filtered to ensure it is as clean as possible.
This is a concrete step forward that reassures families. It also stands in contrast to other bodies of water, such as the Seine, where swimming will not be permitted until July 4.
“The Île-de-France region is full of places where you can splash around to your heart’s content.”
Everything You Need to Know Before Booking Your Seat
To access this swimming area, you must reserve a time slot at least 4 days before your visit. The admission fee is €8 per person, or €3 for residents of Joinville-le-Pont. Admission is free for children under 4.

Schedules to help you plan your day
The beach at Joinville-le-Pont is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On weekends and holidays, the hours are extended from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. This gives you plenty of time to enjoy the beach with family or friends.
For those coming home from work, weeknights are still shorter. So it’s best to plan a weekend trip to fully enjoy the setting and the facilities.
The swimming area at Quai Gabriel Péri is therefore one of the must-visit spots this summer in Île-de-France. As a result, it’s best to plan ahead and reserve your time slot as soon as possible, since this type of spot quickly draws crowds as soon as the weather starts to heat up.
