This beach, located 30 minutes from Paris and closed since 1970, is finally reopening this summer for less than €5
The summer of 2026 has a wonderful surprise in store for Parisians looking to cool off. A beach that has been closed for over 50 years is finally reopening, just 30 minutes from the capital. This news might just change your summer plans.
A historic beach is being revitalized just outside Paris
Last year, the City of Paris caused a sensation by reopening the Seine for swimming. This reopening came after a ban that had lasted more than 100 years. It was an event that left a lasting impression on the region’s residents.
Following in the capital’s footsteps, Neuilly-sur-Marne is now set to take the same step. The riverbanks in this town had been closed to the public since 1970. The town is therefore welcoming a long-awaited new swimming area.
This beach features a 300 m² area, two pools, and a grand opening. Local residents have every reason to look forward to this refreshing new attraction.
“Swimming spots are popping up everywhere, including this brand-new beach just outside Paris, which might just become our favorite spot this summer.”

This beach has two pools for all ages
On site, you can enjoy a 300 m² swimming area, divided into two pools. The first measures 25 meters by 8 meters, with a depth of 1.80 meters. This pool is ideal for experienced swimmers.
The second pool is 10 meters long by 8 meters wide. Its depth ranges from 40 centimeters to 1.10 meters. Families with children will find it a great place to swim.
Each of these areas will be monitored by the relevant authorities. The safety of swimmers remains a priority for the municipality. You can therefore enjoy your time in the water with peace of mind.
The beach will also feature colorful changing cabins. These convenient facilities add a touch of charm to the place. The setting promises to be enjoyable for all visitors.
Affordable rates for swimmers
All of this is offered at a very affordable price. It costs €4.90 per person to use the facilities. Swimming sessions last 2 hours.
The residents of Neuilly-sur-Marne—known as “Nocéens”—enjoy a discounted rate. They pay just €2 to access the beach. That’s one more good reason for local residents to visit.
A festive opening ceremony is planned for this beach
For the grand opening of the facility, the Neuilly-sur-Marne city government has gone all out. Free swimming sessions are scheduled between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. It’s a great opportunity to check out the facility at no cost.
Soft-serve ice cream will be served throughout this special day. Musical performances will help create a festive atmosphere. The city hall is also organizing a raffle with attractive prizes.
Raffle participants will have a chance to win swim rings and electric boat rides. These unique prizes are sure to extend the fun on the water. The festival promises to be a memorable experience for all visitors.
The first 50 swimmers will enjoy a special privilege. They’ll take their first dip alongside the mayor and a few deputy mayors. They’ll also receive a commemorative towel.
This historic reopening deserves to be celebrated in style. After being closed for more than 50 years, the banks of the Marne in Neuilly-sur-Marne are returning to their original purpose. Parisians looking to cool off now have a new place to swim close to home.
