“Lip contouring is our generation’s most precious beauty secret”: Pat McGrath unveils her 10 Louis Vuitton lip pencils

ParisSelect - « Le contour des lèvres est le secret beauté le plus précieux de notre génération » : Pat McGrath dévoile ses 10 crayons Louis Vuitton

Pat McGrath is unveiling a new collection of lip pencils for Louis Vuitton this June 2026. This line of 10 pencils expands the brand’s beauty division, reaffirming its discerning approach to makeup. The British makeup artist, who was named creative director of cosmetics nearly a year ago, continues her meticulous work.

A collection designed by Konstantin Grcic

These Louis Vuitton lip pencils come in two distinct collections. Five nude shades are paired with five bold shades, offering a range to suit every style. German designer Konstantin Grcic created the design, which features the Monogram flower on each piece.

For Pat McGrath, the pencil remains her favorite tool. She had this in mind right from the launch of the brand’s beauty division. These products round out a lineup that already includes 55 lipstick shades, 10 lip balms, and 8 eye shadows.

“Every look I’ve created on the Louis Vuitton runways starts with the lip line. That’s where precision becomes an art.”

Innovative formulas with peptides

The brand is leveraging cosmetology research for these new pencils. They contain peptides, promising 24-hour wear and hydration. The texture feels velvety, somewhere between a cream and a matte finish.

It glides smoothly onto the lips. The color shows up from the very first application. This combination of comfort and performance defines the French brand’s vision of beauty.

An exclusive masterclass in New York

Pat McGrath presented this collection during a masterclass at the Louis Vuitton flagship store near Fifth Avenue. The demonstration took place the day after the 2027 Cruise show, orchestrated by Nicolas Ghesquière in New York. There, the makeup artist shared her techniques and favorite looks.

The first look, called “90s Minimalism,” plays on contrast. It pairs a brown eyeliner with a pink lip balm, evoking the style of the 1990s. Fans of a natural look will appreciate this simple yet effective approach.

The Outlined Elegance look features a matte nude duo. Apply the product slightly beyond the natural lip line. This technique, called “Classic Overline,” subtly sculpts the lips.

For evening looks, the Premiere Plump style is inspired by Emma Stone’s makeup. Nude lips paired with a dark lip liner create a contouring effect. Pat McGrath calls this method “the most luxurious way to wear a lip liner.”

The Blur Illusion Technique for a Blurred Finish

The makeup artist demonstrated her “blurred lips” technique, which is a major trend right now. She called it ” Blur Illusion.” It involves pairing a neutral lipstick with a matching lip liner, then drawing the line just beyond the natural lip line.

Next, blend the edges for a soft, diffused finish. This method softens the lines and creates a modern look. Pat McGrath describes this trend as the art of blending and smudging the pencil.

Pat McGrath’s Backstage Secrets

The makeup artist revealed the professional technique she used backstage at the Louis Vuitton Cruise show. She first applies foundation, concealer, and powder to the lips. She then outlines the lips with a pencil on top of this prepared base.

This method ensures flawless makeup under the runway spotlights. Makeup enthusiasts can recreate it at home. It takes a little practice, but the results become more precise.

Through these ten pencils, Pat McGrath expresses her passion for textures and colors. She seeks out satins with a radiant sheen and intense mattes, which she describes as “Hollywood-esque.” She calls this approach “slow glam,” where the product glides on smoothly, as if in slow motion.
