Domaine de la Bretesche: between exceptional golf and sensory spa, a haven of peace to discover
Not far from Paris, Domaine de la Bretesche invites you to slow down, between forests, sensory treatments and prestigious golf courses.
Nestled in Missillac, between Brittany and Loire-Atlantique, this Relais & Châteaux address unfurls its charms in a 200-hectare wooded estate. Far from formatted stays, it appeals to lovers of absolute relaxation, golf enthusiasts and couples in search of reconnection.
A 15th-century château, unspoilt countryside, top-of-the-range facilities and an attentive team: the promise of a well-balanced stay, halfway between discreet refinement and essential luxury.
Spa de la Cour Carrée: a sanctuary for letting go
The Spa de la Cour Carrée envelops you from the moment you arrive in a soft, plant-based atmosphere. Under a glass roof bathed in light, each treatment becomes a made-to-measure sensory experience, thanks to exclusive Cinq Mondes and Omnisens protocols.
Relaxing massages, facials, duo rituals or open-air sessions in the Chalet du Potager in season: the spa offers a full range of wellness options. The indoor swimming pool, heated all year round, and the herbal tea room prolong relaxation in a calm, uncluttered setting.
Open to all estate guests, but also to external visitors by reservation, the spa is one of the site’s key assets. The serene atmosphere is designed to help you slow down, while enjoying the products on sale in the integrated boutique.
A mythical 18-hole golf course between castle and forest
Designed by Henri Cotton in 1967, the 18-hole Domaine de la Bretesche golf course stretches over 6 km of perfectly maintained fairways. With the silhouette of the Château de Missillac in the background, and nature omnipresent, this course is considered one of the most beautiful in France.
Whether you’re a regular player or a novice, everything is done to elevate the golfing experience: impeccable greens, a welcoming Club House, a highly equipped Proshop, and the David Lanta Academy with Trackman 4 technology.
For added variety, the estate offers the Pass Atlantique Golf, which gives access to other golf courses in the region, including La Baule, Nantes-Vigneux and Saint-Jean-de-Monts.
A charming hotel combining history, design and comfort
The heart of the estate beats around a 15th-century Renaissance château, extended by a range of accommodation: 25 rooms, 6 suites and 9 private villas, whose latest renovations, completed in 2025 by architect Stéphanie Decurey, blend antique woodwork, Ligne Roset furniture and Dedar textiles in peaceful harmony.
For more privacy, choose cottages in the heart of the park, or villas in a former sheepfold, perfect for a romantic weekend or extended stay. All accommodations offer access to spa, golf, tennis, cycling, indoor and outdoor pools.
The estate also boasts two restaurants run by chef Filipe Silvestre: the gourmet restaurant Le Montaigu, and the brasserie Le Club, ideal after a round of golf or a treatment.
A refined getaway just two hours from Paris
The Domaine de la Bretesche can be reached by TGV (2 hours) from Paris via Nantes or Redon, then about 40 minutes by road. This accessibility, coupled with a full range of hotel facilities, makes it an ideal destination for a wellness weekend, a golfing break or a getaway for two away from the hustle and bustle of Paris.
