Twenty burgers, five countries, and one title to claim: Paris La Défense is about to become the arena for an extraordinary burger festival, where the public itself delivers the verdict. From 26 August to 20 September 2026, the capital hosts the grand European final of The Champions Burger, a competition that has already swept through more than 40 cities since February.

A burger festival bringing together the elite from five countries

To grasp the scale of the event, you first need to appreciate the journey that led here. Since the start of the year, the competition has criss-crossed the continent, selecting at each stage the creations that earned the highest public ratings. The recipes that managed to win over crowds, city after city, are now gathered in Paris for a final of truly stratospheric calibre.

In total, 20 restaurants representing France, Spain, Portugal, Germany and Sweden are competing for the title of Best Burger in Europe 2026. Among the contenders to watch, Lyon-based Madison arrives with a formidable reputation: fresh from victories in Lyon and Bordeaux, it will be defending its “Pink Paradise”, a pink brioche-bun burger that has already proved itself on the French podiums. Up against it, El Tarantín Chiflado and its spectacular “La Bichota ProMax” are among the names to keep a close eye on. French contender SL Cook will also be flying the tricolour.

Recipes designed to surprise before the very first bite

This burger festival is nothing like a simple patty tasting. The creations on show at this final push visual and culinary creativity to the absolute limit. Coloured buns, glazed brioches, mozzarella, artisan potatoes and even edible gold leaf are among the elements that make up these dishes, each engineered to impress at first glance.

When it comes to toppings, the chefs have clearly left nothing to chance. Japanese wagyu, Black Angus, aged beef and smoked Iberian rib sit alongside more unexpected combinations such as bacon caramel, aged red cheddar and rib-eye mayonnaise. Every recipe is constructed as a demonstration of technical mastery as much as a sense of spectacle.

The public vote: the sole judge of the European title

What sets this burger festival apart from most gastronomic competitions is its system for crowning a winner. There is no professional jury, no panel of experts: the visitors themselves decide. After tasting, each attendee can scan the QR code on their ticket to rate the burgers across several specific criteria.

The final score takes into account the bun, the meat, the combination of ingredients, the presentation and the originality. The burger with the highest average score at the end of the 26-day competition is crowned Best Burger in Europe 2026. The Parisian public thus becomes the ultimate referee of this continent-wide gourmet battle.

California Dreaming at the foot of the La Défense towers

Beyond the competition itself, this burger festival transforms the esplanade of La Défense into a full-scale Californian backdrop. Under the theme “California Dreaming”, the space features Los Angeles-style neon signs, an American diner atmosphere and a set design inspired by the West Coast. The result gives the event the feel of a road trip without ever leaving the Hauts-de-Seine.

Entry is completely free, every day from noon to midnight. The official opening is set for Wednesday 26 August at 6 p.m., with an inauguration ceremony scheduled for 3 September at 7 p.m. With more than 20 burgers on the menu, a single visit may well not be enough to try everything. The event takes place at the Parvis de la Défense, in Puteaux, until 20 September 2026.
