L’Amic: a friendly bistro in Jules Joffrin

A stone’s throw from Jules Joffrin, L’Amic is a new address that’s bringing the 18th arrondissement to life. Somewhere between a neighborhood bistro and a bistronomic restaurant, this warm and inviting place celebrates friendship and conviviality… and a cuisine based on instinct that hits the spot.

A friendly bistro with a Parisian soul

Behind this project is a group of friends in their thirties, led by Ivan Koutchoumov and Louis Tarrisse. The former, who has worked in the kitchen and now heads up the Hydropathe cocktail bar, has surrounded himself with a close-knit team to bring this new-generation bistro to life.

In the dining room, Adrien Marie orchestrates service with communicative energy, while Pierre Berthier oversees a cutting-edge wine selection. In the kitchen, Milan-born chef Gabriel Urgese brings an Italian touch to a resolutely French base.

The decor, for its part, plays the authentic bistro card, with its zinc bar, New York-style tiling and large tables. The atmosphere changes throughout the day, from bright at lunchtime to more subdued and musical in the evening.

A la carte

The menu is deliciously regressive, well thought-out and, above all, as short as real bistros should be. It’s hard to keep things simple, but the chef manages to do it perfectly. We love the sausage by the knife or the catch of the day. If time doesn’t allow you to sit down for long, head for the counter, an elbow on the zinc, to nibble on a few tasty plates like the speck croquetas or the homemade rillettes. We particularly like the Basque cheesecake!

At the bar as well as at the table, L’Amic also takes care of its liquid score. The predominantly natural wine list features some fifty carefully selected wines. Accessible vintages, nuggets and friends’ wines are the perfect accompaniment to the cuisine. As for cocktails, the classics are a success.
