What is your background and how was the brand born?

I was an optician and I was always interested in drawing. The aesthetic and product side has always appealed to me. I started by creating collections for my own stores, and then Michel Klein, Swildens, Jeanne Damas came to look for me. This was followed by brands creating collaborations. The company grew and I had to raise funds. And the investors made me understand that they were interested in my talent and that I needed to create my brand.

What characterizes Maison Nathalie Blanc?

I have been recognized a lot for my French made. Which has been an ancestral and magnificent production for centuries. My goal was to make the bezel very beautiful. So I relaunched factories which were losing ground in the Jura. It’s a bit like the story of Nathalie Blanc, of seeking out somewhat distant forms of craftsmanship. Like Japan in particular, which works extremely well.

Your signature also lies in design, what does this consist of?

I design because I love making apartments. And it has always been my passion. If I hadn't opted for glasses, that's what I would have done. I think I looked for in the glasses that I design what I like in the objects. That is to say very pure lines, very designer. This is actually the hardest thing to do. Doing simple things is often very complicated. Because you have to have the right line.
I make glasses that make women beautiful. By her purity, even if she is trendy and fashionable, the woman behind is pretty. We see the glasses but above all we see the woman, elegant, Parisian, chic. I think that’s a bit of the image that my brand gives off.

How would you describe your target customers?

Paris represents elegance around the world. It goes from 20 to 70 years old, the youngest also love the brand. I'm always a little ahead of the game as I draw a lot of inspiration from the design and colors of Panthone. I have 40 years in the business so I follow my heart and my instincts a lot too. I think that when you do what you love, you rarely make mistakes, and it works.

What does the Parisian store look like?

It’s very Parisian. It’s a place that looks like an apartment. You have the impression of being welcomed into my home. It’s a bit like a speakeasy in the United States. You enter through a small optician who is not Nathalie Blanc, you take a large corridor and you arrive in the showroom, a little hidden. A privileged place in which the client is received in a private manner. A real Parisian cocoon with ceilings painted by the companions. A place that resembles me.

What are the brand's flagship models?

Camélia model, available in 3 colors, €432

I have iconic models that have not left the collection since the beginning. Hélène, Simone, Lolita, have been there from the start. And every season there are flagship products. The one that met with exceptional enthusiasm last season is the Camellia. I wanted to make a flower glasses, it was my dream. But an allegory of a flower. A product where you can guess that it is a flower but that anyone can wear, even a woman who is not at all eccentric. I think I have succeeded because the success is global.
