This week Paris Select makes you discover the Paris of Richard Orlinsky.
This contemporary artist, French, internationally known for his animal sculptures wild to angular and geometric shapes, did us the honor of answering our questions about Paris. City he knows well having grown up and worked there. Despite his many travels, theartist remains attached to Paris, whom he loves madly. It is therefore quite natural that the editorial staff of Paris Select approached the artist to offer him to share with us his best addresses in the capital.
A district to recommend to feel the soul of Paris?
I believe that the neighborhood of Saint-Germain-des-Prés remains the most emblematic of Paris: its architecture, Its restaurants and art galleries, it really is the soul of this city.
A neighborhood where you like to stroll?
I must admit that I rarely take the time to stroll, but I particularly like to come to my offices in the 8rd borough on a scooter. In particular, I cross the Champs-Élysées, I never get tired of it.
Your places to admire Paris at night?
THEone of the most beautiful views of Paris is probably from the top of thepeninsula hotel. Their gourmet restaurant L'white bird offers a panoramic view unobstructed view of the most famous monuments of the capital. What better night for admire the city of light ?

An inspiring museum?
I think the Musée d'Orsay will remain the most inspiring Parisian museum for me. Her architecture, Its exhibitions, the depth of his collections are just impressive.

A neighborhood with beautiful art galleries to admire?
There is beautiful galleries rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré, especially at numéro 68, I'll let you find out why.
A pleasant garden to relax in?
We are lucky to have a capital with many parks and gardens but I must admit that the Champ-de-Mars offers us an incredible setting with a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower.

A friendly restaurant for a dinner with friends?
I'm a big fan of the Japanese cuisine, so I will be tempted to choose the Kinugawa Matignon. This is without a doubt one of my favorite restaurants, its Japanese cuisine reworked with contemporary notes never leaves indifferent. I particularly like to share moments there with family or friends.

Your canteen restaurant where you like to return?
Le Esplanade cafe is really an address that I have appreciated for many years, I have my habits there so much that they have renamed one of their “Orlinsky” salad.

The places of the night where to slum?
I am also a DJ for a few years now and I must admit that I particularly enjoy performing at ARC Paris. THEatmosphere is still there unbelievable, the decor enough avant-garde and all at the foot of the Arc de Triomphe, it is really an address that I appreciate.

A pastry where to enjoy?
How to talk about pastry without speaking about Christine Brua. She recently opened Madam Cocoa, it is really an address not to be missed.

A spa where you can be pampered?
I think that'one of the best spas to which I was able to go is the Spa at Maison Albar – Le Vendome. The design furniture combined with marble makes the place unique.

An esteemed bookstore?
I particularly appreciate the Lamartine Bookstore, which is one of the most old bookstores-stationery independent of Paris. It's a real place of transmission and sharing, that's why I chose this place to do my Book signing on the occasion of the release of my 1er book "Why I broke the codes".

As a big fan of sneakers as well as streetwear, I have to mention the magnificent flagship of Kith Paris. THE'architecture of the places, en plein Golden Triangle it is an unmissable address of the fashion in paris.

His works are characterized by clean lines and modern shapes, which gives them a contemporary and recognizable aesthetic. He has also created works of public art, such as monumental sculptures (bears, gorillas, panthers) exhibited in urban public spaces around the world. Her artistic style, often associated with the movement of thepop art, is unique. Its popularity has steadily grown over the years. The works exhibited in many countries, we make Richard Orlinsky, contemporary French sculptor best known abroad.
Is there a season that you would recommend for discovering Paris?
I'm not sure there is a better season than another, thesummer is always more enjoyable to be able to explore the city but'winter also has its charm.
You have traveled a lot around the world, why does Paris remain the city where you like to live?
I was born, I grew up and have always lived in Paris, everything brings me back to this city. I never feel better than when i'm here.
Is there a place in Paris that particularly inspires you to create?
I myselfinspiration from everyday life, I don't really have a particular place that inspires me. Paris is full of more beautiful places as each other.
We have seen your sculptures in ephemeral exhibitions in the streets of Paris, are new exhibitions in this spirit planned soon?
I have a monumental exhibition with no less than 10 carvings which will be exposed to Nice of 8 June to September 30, 2023. For Paris, it should happen quite quickly too.
In May 2023, we were able to admire your collaboration with Maison Albar Hotels, for whom you created a sublime peacock sculpture... Are new collaborations with the world of French luxury planned for 2023?
Unfortunately I can't reveal anything until nothing is signed, but of course several collaborations are coming. It is an exercise that I particularly appreciate to mix two universes, you will see that soon.
Is there a project in the pipeline for the Olympic Games which will take place in Paris in 2024?
There are indeed discussions that are underway but for the moment I still can not say anything. I hope to be able to announce things to you quickly.
