“Monet – Mitchell” at the Louis Vuitton Foundation

From Tuesday, October 5, the Louis Vuitton Foundation presents a beautiful exhibition bringing together the works of Claude Monet as well as Joan mitchell. An immersive journey through the work of two great artists who marked their time with their unique perceptions...

In partnership with the Musée Marmottan Monet, this exhibition highlights for the very first time in France, the major works of these two sacred monsters of Impressionism for whom the landscape was above all colored dazzling before being forms... You will therefore be able to admire them, distributed over 4 floors, starting with a retrospective of the American artist Joan mitchell (1925-1992) in the basement.

As usual, the Vuitton Foundation allows a cross-reference between modern Art et contemporary art. This exposure shows the similarities of these two artists from two different eras. We thus set off to discover the singular perceptions of these painters when faced with the same landscape. In total, this exhibition brings together 36 works by the French artist and 80 by the American artist. Imposing works in large formats that explode in color before our eyes.

Or : 8 Avenue du Mahatma Gandhi, 75116 Paris.

The oldest Parisian museum will offer at the end of September a real dive into the history ofemancipation of women, throughout the history of France. " Parisian citizens! » highlights the struggle of the French women. We can admire the struggles of the most famous Parisians for their rights: Olympe de Gouges or Gisele Halimi. You will therefore be able to admire unpublished images of battles, demonstrations and commitments, from the freedom of the city of the French Revolution to the obtaining of parity in politics in 2000. A story told through paintings, sculptures, photographs, films , posters, books and other clothes! Among these collector's items: the lock of hair of Marguerite Durand, feminist woman and founder of the newspaper The sling.

This exhibition therefore brings together the memory of the struggles for the emancipation of women around the history of feminism in Paris, often little-known and revolutionary women, between communards, suffragettes, pacifists, resistance fighters, collectives of immigrant women or trade unionists. Everything is presented chronologically and we dive back into important moments in history such as the right to education, the right to vote or even access to artistic creation.

« Facing the Sun. A Star in the Arts” at the Musée Marmottan Monet

On November 13, 1872 in Le Havre, Claude Monet painted from the window of his hotel a view of the port under the mist. Exhibited two years later under the title Impression, rising sun, the painting inspires the critic Louis Leroy with the term "impressionist" and thus gives a name to the group formed by Monet and his friends: Renoir, Degas, Manet, Cézanne, Sisley... In total, nearly a hundred drawings, paintings and photographs from the Observatory retrace the history of the representation of the sun in the arts, from Antiquity to the present day.
