Do you want to explore thematic galleries dedicated to anthropology, ethnology, or even the history of the arts? We have found the ideal exhibition for you: “Mexica: gifts and gods at the Templo Mayor” at the Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac.

At the heart of a rich historical context, the Quai Branly Museum reveals to you the fascinating epic of the Mexica civilization. Also known as Aztecs, this people distinguished themselves by their excellence in various fields. From architecture to mathematics, also including astronomy.

In the center of their majestic city, named Tenochtitlan, stood the Main temple. True spiritual and political epicenter. The chance discovery of the Coyolxauhqui monolith in 1978 marked a turning point in the history of Mexican archeology. It thus triggered ambitious excavations which revealed the depth as well as the complexity of religion and Mexica cosmology.
