What is a guided tour? A walk off the beaten track? An original course? A dive into history, big and small? The discovery of a sometimes unknown heritage? Surprises at a bend in a street, behind a gate or a carriage entrance? In reality, it's all that, and above all that, it's an enchanted parenthesis, an hour and a half of shared pleasure.

Whether you are in love with Paris, the city of superlatives... Whether you want to enrich your knowledge of history and art history... Whether you are a passing tourist or a native Parisian, rediscover the city differently with these guided walks.

Among all the remarkable sites with which the City of Light abounds, the district of Saint Germain des Prés is an editorial favorite. For its famous boulevard, of course, flanked by its magnificently restored church, and the mythical brasseries of Flore and Two Maggots. But not only.

After a visit to the church, the oldest in Paris, which has been destroyed and rebuilt many times, and whose recent restoration has brought back the dazzling colors of its last rehabilitation carried out in the 19rd century, an ideal stroll would continue with the discovery of several unmissable places :

  • The peaceful Furstenberg Square, which is actually a croquignolette square, without doubt the most charming in Paris with its curious lamppost with five globes and its graceful paulownias, where the best upholstery fabric editors have taken up residence
  • La fine arts street, which houses the best galleries, and which leads – what could be more normal – to the magnificent Ecole des Beaux-Arts, this venerable institution erected on the site of theformer convent of the Petits Augustins
  • The beautiful Jacob Street, which is also that of major publishing houses, less numerous than in the heyday, but still present and valiant, installed in charming private mansions
  • The quays and their booksellers, classified as World Heritage by Unesco, that many countries envy us
  • Remarkable monuments and facades:'Institut de France, which houses the French Academy in its famous dome, the monumental and surprising Currency Museum, which today hosts the Guy Savoy, ranked the best restaurant in the world, not to mention an abundance of listed buildings monuments
  • And many more things, including some gourmet addresses. The famous Ladurée house, for example, invites you to taste its famous macaroons in particularly stylish et refined, like the neighborhood.

By visiting this district, walking in the footsteps

  • Artists painters et sculptors, Delacroix, Picasso, Zadkine,
  • Personalized writers such as the surrealist André Breton, the existentialist Jean-Paul Sartre, and of course Simone de Beauvoir, but also before them Racine and Balzac,
  • Personalized musicians and singers, the dazzling Boris Vian, to whom we owe the opening of the first Jazz club, or closer to us the muse Juliette Gréco and Serge Gainsbourg,
  • Personalized poets such as the charming Guillaume Apollinaire, friend of artists,

all these figures from the literary and artistic world who once resided there, it is easy to understand why Saint-Germain des Prés symbolizes the emblem and spirit of the Left Bank.
