Rolex, an iconic figure in luxury watchmaking, celebrates its long-standing partnership with director and explorer James Cameron. And this, as a major patron of the exhibition “The Art of James Cameron”. The event, which is held from April 4, 2024 to January 5, 2025 at the Cinémathèque française in Paris, pays tribute to six decades of artistic genius.
The exhibition not to be missed
The exhibition offers visitors a captivating immersion into the prolific artistic world of James Cameron. There are indeed more than 300 objects from his vast private collection, including sketches, paintings, photographs and 3D models. It thus retraces the career of the filmmaker and his multiple talents. From his beginnings to his most iconic achievements such as Terminator, Titanic, Avatar and Aliens Return. Each piece showcases James Cameron's ingenuity and unique artistic vision.
James Cameron, recognized for his Academy Award-winning achievements, is also famous for his exploits as an explorer and engineer. In 2012, he made history by solo piloting a submersible of his design. To the bottom of the Mariana Trench, 11 meters deep, in the Pacific Ocean. An experimental Rolex watch was attached to the exterior of the submersible. Demonstrating Rolex's commitment to innovation and exploration of the deep sea. In tribute to this achievement, Rolex launched the Oyster Perpetual Deepsea Challenge, a watch waterproof to 11 meters, ten years after this historic event.
