Yves Saint Laurent: Transparencies – The power of materials at the Yves Saint Laurent Museum

fashion exhibitions

Transparency, when worn, is rarely complete. It is incompatible with the very function of the garment. It is supposed to cover the body, hide it or protect it. Attracted by this contradiction, Yves Saint Laurent takes hold of materials like chiffon, lace, or tulle. Boldly, it allows women to assert their body with power. The Yves Saint Laurent Museum Paris presents “Yves Saint Laurent: Transparencies, the power of materials”. This exhibition represents the second chapter of a story that began last summer at the Cité de lalace et de la mode in Calais.

For this second part, the Parisian museum invited Anne Dressen, as artistic advisor. Here she looks at transparency at Yves Saint Laurent. While the scenography designed by the architect Pauline Marchetti questions the sensitive dimensions of space. Thus, the exhibition, organized in 5 sections, makes visible artistic and sensitive poetry by Yves Saint Laurent. His creative rebellion against the changing prohibitions of society remains more inspiring than ever today.

From February 9 to August 25, 2024 – Yves Saint Laurent Museum – 5 Avenue Marceau, 75116 Paris
