The packaging of the Arc de Triomphe by the artist Christo will be on view from September 18 to October 3, 2021. The monumental work plans to make the Parisian monument disappear under 25 square meters of recyclable fabric in bluish silver polypropylene and 000 7 meters of red rope. An operation in close collaboration with the Center Pompidou and the Center des Monuments Nationaux.

The iconic couple Christo et Jeanne-Claude have been wrapping monuments around the world since the 60s! Among their most famous works, we find the Wrapped Coast of Sydney, the Surrounded Islands of Biscayne Bay in Miami, The Gates of Central Park in New York, The London Mastaba, Hyde Park in London or our famous Pont-Neuf… September 2020, i.e. 35 years after packing the Pont-Neuf, Christo wanted to repeat the experience in Paris, this time with another emblematic monument of the capital: the Arc de Triomphe. Only, because of the health crisis, this monumental performance had to be postponed... And despite the brutal death of the Bulgarian artist in May 2020, his work will be maintained as posthumous, thanks to his nephew and the collaboration with the Center Pompidou and the Center des Monuments Nationaux.

Thus, from the September 18th, you can admire the Arc de Triomphe under 25 000 m2 an recycled fabric in polypropylene with silvery and bluish shades, surrounded by 7 kilometers of red rope. A beautiful gift package enthroned in the middle of the Place de l'Etoile, in short!

Conceived in 1962 with his late wife Jeanne-Claude, this entirely self-financed artistic project aimed to create a memorial dedicated to the armies of the Revolution and the Empire... In any case, this gigantic installation will indeed see the light of day from September 18 next. Don't miss it!

Arc de Triomphe, Place de l'Etoile-Charles de Gaulle, 75008 Paris. From September 18 to October 3, 2021
