In 2019, Hedi Slimane reintroduced perfume to the world of Céline, launching the French fashion house's first fragrance in over 50 years. Five years later, he extended his footprint to beauty. And this is how Céline announced the release of Céline Beauté, her very first cosmetics line. And here's what we already know!
A surprise announcement
It's official, Céline announces the release of Céline Beauté. This week, Maison Céline unveiled its Winter 2024 collection entitled “La Collection de l’Arc de Triomphe”. Directed by the artistic director of the brand, the film especially marks the inauguration of Céline's makeup offering. “All the models are wearing “La Peau Nue” Rose Naturel lipstick, one of the fifteen shades in the “Le Rouge Celine” category, which will be available in January 2025.
A satin lipstick “Rouge Triomphe”, described as “very classic and essential, Parisian satin… Dressed in a faceted gold sheath and embossed with the house's couture monogram”, will be launched in the fall.
The beginning of a beautiful story ?
“The creation of Celine Beauté enriches cultural roots, promoting a French idea of femininity and allure. Distilled over the last five years by Hedi Slimane. In its new institutional codes for Maison Céline,” we can read in the press release.
Over the seasons, Céline will expand its offering, which should include lip balms, mascaras, eyeliners, eye pencils, nail polishes and blushes.
Céline is also the latest luxury fashion brand to enter the category of designer beauty products. Miu Miu recently signed a licensing agreement with the L'Oréal group. After Prada, which announced the launch of its skincare and makeup products last year. Valentino, for its part, launched its color cosmetics line in 2021.
