In a world where sustainability and environmental responsibility have become essential imperatives, Galeries Lafayette is positioning itself as pioneers of circular fashion with the launch of its flagship event: Le Nouveau Cool. Galeries Lafayette is thus inaugurating an era of circular and responsible fashion. Paris Select tells you about it in detail!

The New Cool or the ode to circularity

From April 19 to June 23, 2024, the famous Parisian department store will be transformed into a temple of creativity and sustainability. Offering its customers a unique shopping experience focused on reinvention and circularity.

Since the launch of the Go For Good initiative in 2018, Galeries Lafayette has been committed to redefining the standards of the fashion, beauty and home industry by promoting an innovative and sustainable approach. Under the mantra “Renew – Recycle – Repair – Resell”, Le Nouveau Cool embodies a new era of fashion. Where creativity and sustainability come together harmoniously.

Karine Viel, Director of Sustainable Development at Galeries Lafayette, highlights the importance of circularity. “Circularity means giving value back to things, designing with the second life of products in mind. At Galeries Lafayette, we believe that beautiful objects deserve to be taken care of, that they can be passed down and last a long time. »

The New Cool will thus offer a series of initiatives and events placed under the sign of circularity. Among the highlights of this event are:

The pop-up

A traveling space offering personalized advice, clothing repairs and a consignment store. Traveling throughout France to promote a more circular lifestyle.

The Cool Brigade

Made up of experts and content creators on social networks, this brigade will offer a tailor-made service to clients. Advising them to create unique and lasting looks from pieces available at [RE]STORE and Jaiio.

Refashion Workshops

Sewing workshops led by professionals will allow customers to learn clothing repair techniques. These are organized in collaboration with Refashion, an eco-organization for the textile industry in France.

The (RE)STORE

A space of more than 500m² offering a selection of unique, vintage and second-hand pieces. As well as a more responsible fashion and lifestyle offering. Brands such as MaisonCléo, Âge Paris, Aud Rey and Kabas present their creations there. All marked by the commitment to sustainability.

The Talks

Conversations led by committed creators will be organized at Appartement Lafayette, addressing topics related to more sustainable and circular fashion.

Le Nouveau Cool thus marks a significant step in Galeries Lafayette's journey towards more ethical and responsible fashion. By encouraging reuse, repair and recycling, this event reaffirms the iconic department store's commitment to a fashion industry that is more aware of its impact on the environment.
