Paris Select spoke with Elisa Meliani. A Parisian by birth, who after a successful career as a model, launched her architectural firm. EB Studio Paris is the perfect intersection between his different passions: architecture, interior design and art. She tells us about it in a very Select and Parisian interview.

Elisa Meliani grew up in Paris in an artistic environment. After a successful career as an international model, which allowed her to nourish her culture through her numerous travels, she decided to make room for her passion, interior architecture. It was therefore at MMI Déco in Paris that she decided to cut her teeth in decoration and space design.

In her work as a decorator, she plays in particular with materials, volumes and light. She has a passion for detail and harmonious places. With a preference for raw materials and organic shapes. Check out his interview.

What was your background before arriving at decoration?

I started a modeling career at the age of 16. So I had the chance to travel a lot and work with lots of artists. When I reached my thirties, I wanted to find a career change and something that I really liked because I had tried modeling. And decorating has always been an integral part of my life because my mother was an artist and always loved it. I hunted a lot too. Whether it's garage sales, Emmaüs, flea markets, to find objects with a story. So it made sense for me to do this reconversion. And it was also the logical continuation of my job, which was very focused on aesthetics and visuals.

Is this how your architectural firm, EB Studio, was born?

It's a young architectural firm because for the moment I really have two completed projects under my belt. A Haussmannian apartment in the 8th, and a house in Normandy of 400m2. And currently I'm busy with other projects. The Manoir de Saint Hymer, which is an old wine press from the 18th century. I will be able to have truly creative freedom and so I am really delighted with this project. And my side projects are for clients. It could be the creation of offices, or residential, but it is still in progress.

How would you define the EB Studio style?

I would say it's pretty clean. I like harmonious places, I like noble materials like marble, like travertine, like brass. EB Studio is also the possibility of having raw materials, which are increasingly expensive. But for this, customers must also be able to have a certain financial freedom.

How do you find the pieces?

For everything that involves works of art, I work with gallery owners, including the Galerie Le Fell in Brussels, who introduced me to quite a few artists that I really appreciate. And otherwise, I go to the flea market a lot. Notably the Puces de Saint-Ouen. I find quite a few gems there. Then, for furniture, I spend a lot of time finding rare suppliers. Like Entrelacs for example. They are French artisans and it was important to me to solicit local artisans.

What aspects do you like the most, and what difficulties do you encounter?

I love discovering new places, having new projects, new clients. When it comes to difficulties, I want my client to be calm. Difficulties can therefore be technical unforeseen events that occur on construction sites.

How do you imagine EB Studio in 5 years?

I would like to work internationally if possible. Taking care of hotels or restaurants would be a real dream too. With precisely the freedom that one can have on such projects.
